Open Source SQL is a community devoted to creating similar, but free
and open source, versions of the SQL Server 2008
solutions you can find at retail software shops such as Idera, Red Gate,
Apex SQL, Quest, and others. All SQL 2008 solutions on this site were
developed and tested through standard application development
processes under the guidance of Open Source SQL. They are all
licensed under the The
GNU General
Public License (GPL) and are completely free.
Compress backups by up to 90% using
standard Zip formats.
Utilizes the SQL Server Virtual Backup
Device API to steam backups directly into
compression algorithms without writing to
disk first, saving disk space.
Schedule compressed backups and/or
restores to automate database
synchronization.
Greatly reduce network bandwidth
required to transfer backups across your
organization, or to offsite locations such
as a disaster recovery environment.
New Product Development Here's what we're working on:
SQL 2008 Agent Job Scheduler
- View and manage SQL Server scheduled jobs across your enterprise.
Avoid conflicts, optimize performance, avoid downtime - see
what's happening on your SQL 2008 Server and when.
SQL Log Explorer -
View SQL data modification activities down to the transaction
level. Ever want to "Control Z" a mistaken transaction
by an end user? You'll be able to with Log Explorer.
